I won and entire professional concept photo shoot in a costume contest that I entered a few weeks ago. I decided to finally do my dream shoot as Susan Delgado from Stephen King's The Dark Tower. The shoot will be based off of images from the graphic novel and some descriptions from the book, and will have multiple locations. I am super excited!! The shoot won't be until August, so it gives me time to get all the props and costumes together. I will definitely post the pictures here when they're finished!
As for any new cosplays, I haven't quite decided what I am going to make (specifically for Youmacon). Some options I have been seriously considering are Chell (Portal), Sailor Mars, and Fire Nation Katara or Suki (Avatar the last airbender). There's a few more difficult ones on my list I would love to do, but those are probably unlikely at this time.

Youmacon has always been my favorite so I am super excited! Yay!!!!!

I am finally done with my thesis yay!!! Now that I have no other responsibilities, I am getting the urge to craft costumes again. I will be in Florida Jul-Aug, but after that, I will have a good amount of time to make a costume or update some old ones for Youmacon 2011.

So two re-makes I was thinking about were:
Nariko from Heavenly Sword - I fixed the wig, the sword is good, but I need to re-make the outfit itself
Rikku (FFX) - I would really like to make actual boots, and maybe make a better top.

I'm not sure if I want to attempt any new costumes, but you never know when the time gets closer how I will feel. Possible new costumes I am contemplating are:
Songstress Rikku - as a singer, this would be lots of fun
Etna (Disgaea) - wig is scary!
Da Qiao (Dynasty Warriors 5) - giant fans? yes please!
Yuffie (FFVII: Advent Children)

I am also open to ideas of others too. Any suggestions of good characters I could cosplay well??

I NEVER do journals, but I figured why not start?
So I am finishing my masters in Animal behavior/ecology this spring. My thesis is on wasp behavior and productivity. I am a teaching assistant at a University, but I have my own biology lab class which I am completely in charge of.
I LOVE the Red Wings. No, I mean I really really LOVE my Wings. It's my obsession
My fave player is #51 Filppula, but I love the whole team. I try to attend as many games as possible, and I try to watch all the games on TV. If I can't watch, I always have someone calling me to give me updates.
My other obsession is cosplay, but I've slowed down on that at the moment. My boyfriend moved to Florida and has been living there for a few years. Not only is he my best friend and boyfriend, but he's also my con buddy, so I haven't been to as many cons lately. Hopefully that will change in the next year. Here's my possible con list:

2011 cons
Shutocon - My boyfriend may be visiting me so we both may be able to go.
Acen - this was a possibility, but I was a little late in booking a hotel room so it may not happen =/
Colossalcon - This sounds like fun and it's relatively close, but it's during playoffs. It's a maybe.
Youmacon - this is one con I try to never miss. I love it.
There's also a couple of local cons I may try to go too.

As far as cosplay, I would like to do a more challenging cosplay, but it will have to wait until I am done with my thesis. My boyfriend and I want to work on a Big Daddy and Little Sister from Bioshock. Hopefully we can do that in the next year or so. I really want to be a Little Sister, and I will be in character the whole time too!!
Otherwise, I want to re-make my Nariko and do some fixing on other costumes. I am currently making Baby Doll from Sucker Punch for the movie opening, but it's more of a fun cosplay just for the movie rather than something serious.
I want to make another Rikku as well. I would LOVE to do Warrior, but I am not that skilled at sewing, so I may try Songstress. I am a singer, so I'll take any excuse to walk around singing all day!
Other than that, I have a lot of dream cosplays I want to make, but they may hvae to wait until after I graduate!
